I am a generally content (who said generally - don't get me started!) 30 something living in London, who amongst other things sells everything you might need to make unique and lovely handmade handbags at home.
I came to be running a bag making supplies store sort of by accident, but it's the best accident I've ever had!
In the past I have owned a busy restaurant, completed a psychology degree, learnt how to make handmade shoes, made handbags and soft furnishings, and worked as a play therapist-phew!
I've enjoyed it all but to be honest I'm happiest creating things with my hands and I'll give anything a go with the help of a few instructions.
I got into bag making for a couple of reasons. I know my way around a sewing machine because I have to alter my clothes a lot (grrr), and I was once given the most beautiful off-cuts from a curtain maker (lots of heavy silks). So I thought I would make myself some pennies by making bags and selling them because they are quite quick and easy to put together; and they went like... whooosh!
It got to the point where I was constantly sewing, obtaining bag making supplies was a real pain, and I also met other bag makers who complained of the same thing...so I thought 'wait a minute'...thus U-Handbag.com was born on the 4th November 2005. Bless all of those who sew with her!
I now spend most of my time finding yummy fabrics, handles, patterns and metal thingamyjigs for bags to sell, and sewing bags. I feel I have truly found my calling!
If I wasn't running my business I think I would have been a drummer in a rock band.
Where do I begin! Sewing bags (now there's a surprise), running my business, and cooking anything as long as it doesn't contain offal. When my brain is available it reads, has a good boogie with my friends and even boogies by myself! My loves...films, comedy shows, photography, walks with Beans (my dog), and life with my husband (he makes me laugh every day). Where? Paris, Thailand, and Amsterdam.
