Have you entered the Big Bag Making Booty draw yet?
Fancy some Moo MiniCards at a discount?
I say 'Carpet #1' because I'm really hooked on them! I've decided the women who are nearest and dearest will all be getting one for Xmas (they all know that (as usual) they will getting bags anyway).
After the bag 'dogs dinner' incident I thought that a good way of getting back on the horse again would be to make another bag, but this time from a shop pattern. And you know what? It was lovely to not have to measure anything, design any pattern, do any math, or plan, or write the instructions down as I sewed...bliss! Last night whilst listening to: Kate Bush, Portishead, Rufus Wainwright, and Madeleine Peyroux I made my first Carpet Bag, and I can report that it is a great little pattern which works like a dream, has no nasty surprises, and it was easier than I thought it was going to be :)
My first Carpet Bag made from this fabric for the exterior and this fabric for lining. Sewing on the satin bias binding trim was a (self inflicted) pain in the bum!
The bag has an internal frame that pops open (and stays open) when you pull apart the top edges of the bag, and pops shut when you bring the top edges together again. This is handy for security, and 2 handed rummaging in this roomy bag.
I added a zipper pocket inside the bag (you can just see it at the top, in fact I put it in a bit too high...ah well, next time...).
Carpet bottom: I added a bag bottom to the bag, and 6 feet to the bottom, because it won't do to have a dirty bottom (heh heh!).
I'm thinking I will make my next Carpet Bag out of this yummy velvet. I'll post the pics when it's done. I hope you've had a lovely weekend too. X
