April 08 - Shoulder Bag with Sash
I've finished the April 08 bag for Sewing Word Magazine. The magazine theme for April is orange. So in keeping with the theme I designed this roomy shoulder tote with gusset. The bag has a sash that wraps all around the bag that can be tightened to cinch the bag in a little which is good for security and it gives it a more interesting overall shape (well, that's the intention). The bag also has an easy to make pocket that is wide as the bag and has a central divider.

Made the front cover on April 08's issue - yay!
.
A roomy bag for those 'everything including the kitchen sink' days. I have used these shoulder straps and one of these panels for the sash and handle loops.

Great bag - I love the fabrics you've chosen and the sash detail.

The bag looks luverly and mmmm the lobster. I've never had lobster but I just know that I'd love it being a shellfish lover. Must drop some hints to the other half!

Mmmmmmmmmm yummy bag! Great example of how one creative extra can completely change a "standard" bag! The sash is genius!

Gorgeous bag and I love the design - stylish and practical. I don't own any orange clothes, but this bag makes me think I should!

Elegant design. It makes me think somehow of 40s actresses, like Katherine Hepburn - tall slim chic & stylish in high-waisted trousers.

The bag and lobster look great. MMMMMmmmmm. That tutorial was easy. Thank god thats the way that I did it in a couple of my baby bags. It just seemed the simplest way to do it.

I love the colour scheme of your bag! The sash is brilliant,so simple but different. I'm not going to mention the lobster because it makes me jealous, my fella just offers to make me toast........

Waw Lisa, that is such a beautiful bag ! Just a small question: Wouldn't it be an idea to start a flickr pool for bags made with your patterns? That would be really inspirational!
