Be Simon Cowell for a day and win a bag frame!!
"The sun has got his hat on hip hip hip hooray...." Bring on those rays it makes everything feel and look so wunnerful! Right now I'm busy playing with some linen fabric and I'm trying my darndest to design the Sewing World Bag (so it will be something in linen, but what? Errrr....). The thing is I have lots of new goodies in the shop I would much rather play with them instead, phoooey!
Anyway, whilst I'm trying to get my head around a design for the mag I was wondering if I could ask you folks for your esteemed opinion on something. Al plays and writes music. When in the right mood he has this uncanny ability to pen a song in 30 mins and he plays guitar too. I've always said that he has an talent for both, and yes, as his missus of course I would, but I am not alone in thinking he should just get out there have a laugh and gig.
So I was thinking it would be a bit of fun (and interesting) to see what you think of one of his many songs as I was inspired to do so by this post written by Wendy. And seeming as it's time for another giveaway I thought I would throw in a bag frame for one winner too. OK so the song is not in a polished state as Al (who did everything on the song) is not too hot at doing the producing and editing stuff, but you'll more than get the idea.
.
Listen to Al's song, tell us what you think, and win a frame to make the above purse (or another purse if you fancy).
.
Draw Details (please read carefully)
I'll send a pretty Silver Loop Handle Bag Frame 1 lucky draw winner.
To enter all you have to do is comment on THIS PARTICULAR POST by:
- having a listen to Al's song: 'Stuck Like This' and telling us what you think about it. Don't be shy about being honest - he's a big boy; he can take it :)
Contest Official-ness :
- I'll randomly draw the winner in a weeks time - 15th May and announce the winner the following day-ish. Good luck!
- Sorry I can't notify winners, so please keep an eye for the winner announcement. This is made easier for you if you subscribe to this blog so you don't have to keep checking back, although it's always great to have you pop-in for a read :0)
- Prizes which are not claimed within 3 weeks of the winner announcement will be carried forward to the next draw.
- Sorry I can't reply to contest/draw comments, but I do love reading every single one :)

I like Al's tune, it's very upbeat even though he is "stuck like this". It's stuck in my mind, humming to myself "I'm stuck like this". Like the purse too.:))

I liked the song, but found the intro a little long - I was begining to think it was an instrumental. I'm not an expert on music, but I did enjoy it.

It sounds good! A little minimal, i think. But good to hear.
(i can't understand all the words, sorry).

Hey I live with a closet musician... My husband can play almost any instrument.. my kids play also... I think Al has got the beginnings of a really neat song.. Tell him to keep at it.... I myself, am also humming this tune now.

I think it is great! The tune is definately catchy, and I like the song a lot. I agree that the intro was a little long, but I think it could be improved if it was just sped up half a beat. I think the song may be a tad too slow.

Lisa, This is my first post!!! I discovered your site a couple of months ago and just never had the chance to drop you a note. I think your site is awesome!
The song certainly is catchy and I like it. I think it's in its beginning stages and could certainly use some fine tunning. The beginning was long so he should keep it that piece shorter. For some odd reason, it brought me back to Sesame Street days...
He should keep up the good work!

I really liked that track. Good lyrics and I like the piano arrangement. The bass seemed a little loud, but that was probably my PC settings! LOL
Gorgeous bag too.

Just had a good listen to the song. I think the intro is a little bit too long and it needs a bit of polishing, but I really like it, I'm getting a definate "Beatles" feeling. So Al... polish this song, give it a little umph and send out your demo, but it on you-tube, just get it out, don't be shy, you've definately got something going there!!! Good luck! Oh and Lisa, keep those bags coming, I'm just getting into bagmaking and your site is very inspirational. I'd love to win that handbagframe! ;-)
hugs from Holland!

I would agree the intro was a little slow but overall I enjoyed it. He has a nice voice too. I think with a little tweaking it could be a great song & I would buy the album :)

First, isn't it cool that blogging gives Al a platform to get feedback on his song? And he has your adoring fans behind him, so he'll get good good feedback.
I really liked the song. I liked the piano, I like the lyrics. I agree with the posters above that the intro is a bit long, but I disagree that the song should be sped up. I think the tempo is just fine and that speeding it up might detract from the meaning.
Good luck to Al! I hope you'll post more of his songs in the future!

I have to say his voice is so enjoyable, I really like it. I agree I was less than excited by the beginning instrumentals but I liked the piano and his voice a TON. It sounds like something that would stand out, in a good way, on our main Chicago radio station. Or I could see it on a Target or Apple commercial. Nice work! (Love your purses too!)

I love that purse frame, I just bought one (as you know) to make a bag for a wedding I'm going to. Anyway, I agree with the comments that the intro is too long, and sounds a bit "bontempi organ" if you know what I mean? It changes key too many times and sounds a bit amateur, if I was listening to a demo I wouldn't listen past the intro which would be a shame because it lets the rest of a very good song down. I like the piano background in the chorus. I also get a Macca vibe. It's a very summery song and very catchy. I like the line about the olive branch, but some of the lines need a bit of polish. On the whole, I reckon he should get that made into a demo - not that I know ewt about music but I would buy it.

WOW! Very good ... agree about the intro being too long, but the song is very catchy, very infectious and very chilled out ... very good. I like it ..

It is a really catchy tune, though the intro was too long for me, too. Good luck with it!

Hello there sorry to say like some others that the into was a little to long for me. I was waiting for some singing. But when that came in then it was good.
Cute purse.
Thanks..

I like the song a lot! I love when the piano comes in at the beginning. I thought the intro was a bit long ... I thought for a moment there would be no words?? Great Job!

It's funny, I just posted on my blog about Jason Kastro leaving American Idol (he needed to go) and that with good songwriting he'll have a future. Then I hear Al's song and it would be a perfect song for a voice like Jason Kastro's! It appears we're all unanimous that the intro is way too long, but I liked the tune and enjoyed the lyrics. Hope we get to hear a more polished version down the road!

What a great song! Your Mister has got a great voice - very Paul McCartney. Thought the song was very catchy indeed. I agree with the other poster who said she could hear it in an Apple or Target commercial. I was thinking that exact same thing when I read her comment. Tell him to keep it up. And are you saying that he's NEVER played a gig?? Ask him what he's waiting for!

Song starts very childish - very simple piano chords, but then when he starts to sing the song mood changes and it becomes more serious.. and I like it, really :)
I'm listening for the second time right now :)

I really liked it Lisa - I'm still singing the chorus now! He sounds like Paul McCartney and you know how rich he is from his songs! You could soon be a kept woman!!

Hi Lisa,
I like the main part of the song, but the intro is a bit 'bitty' if you know what I mean, although the clapping is catchy.
The piano in the main part is very good.
My son is doing his Int II Music and is doing a composition piece just now, so he was very impressed!

I really liked the song, but as others have said, the intro goes on a bit too long... I also thought it was going to be just an instrumental piece. I did like the rest of it tho, it's a very upbeat melody (got my foot tapping) even tho it's a mellow song. Definitely have something here Al...keep up the fantastic work!!

Very smooth! Love the piano work. Make more music! -- Michele

Like a few others, I agree the intro could be shortened. However, my immediate thought was that it would work great as a track in a commercial! Wouldn't that be cool!
I love checking your blog, so thanks for sharing all your projects!

Agree with some of the other comments...
intro is a little too long, and it is very Paul McCartneyesque.
I really enjoyed it though....two creative talents in one family, wow!
