Christine's 2 eyeglasses case tutorial

I know it might look like I'm being a bit slack by posting linky type posts a few times in a row. I'm not being a lazy pants; I'm just busy planning a couple of bag tutorials - thanks for your brill suggestions everyone - you have until tomorrow to get yours in if you haven't already. And my office and stockroom needs nuking because they're in an almighty mess. Whilst I get my act together you might want to check Christine's cool tutorial for 2 pairs of eyeglasses case which is perfect for those of us who need to carry around sunnies and eye specs for example.

Some of Jo's very useful Sophia posts:

Jealous; moi?

Oh and have a look at this very sweet purse made by the fair hand of a budding seamstress...sooo cute!

New yummy Bag Eye Candy

Hi Everyone!  I hope you all had a nice weekend.  I had a full weekend myself.  It was my best friend's birthday so I made her a pair of long lounge/pajama pants out of this pattern and this fabric.  I added a  ribbon tie, a ribbon trimmed back pocket, and they came out pretty groovy :)  I was in too much of a rush to take a piccy, but I'm going to make some for myself so I'll take a pic of those.

Mccalls3017c
Hmm I'm not too sure about the cow print...

We went to see some stand-up comedy as well, but the comedian seemed to rely mainly on talking about toilet humour and men and lady bits to get a laugh out of the audience.  It's alright for the first few times, but to keep on and on and...yawwwn.

.

I have just posted the first Bag Eye Candy of the year in Flickr (click on any of the pics to enlarge and read/make comments).

Have you entered the draw for the Artist's Cafe Journal yet?  Closing date is tomorrow (22nd Jan). Good luck!

A big thank you to everyone who has popped your gorgeous bag pics in our U-Handbag Flickr Group; (keep 'em coming!) it's the FIRST thing I look at when I have a touch of 'bag maker's block'.  What inspires you when you have a spot of 'bag maker's block'?

Monday Bag Eye Candy - now on Flickr.

Have you told us about where your love of craft comes from yet?  Go on, you might win a sewing mag, and everyone else's comments make for some heart warming reading :)  You have until the end of today.  I'll announce the winners tomorrow, 31st July.

Lately I've been trying to figure out new ways to show off your delicious bag pics.  I won't be showing them in pic heavy posts in this blog anymore because it takes grey-hair-growing-ages to upload each one into Typepad.  Not to worry though, I know that a lot of you enjoy the bag eye candy (as much as I do), so I will continue to show off your work, just not with super pic heavy posts.

The viewer that I used for the last eye candy seems to be having a bad hair day and it won't behave, so this week I'm going to direct you good folks to Flickr to where the Latest Bag Eye Candy awaits your viewing pleasure.  Click on any of the pictures to enlarge them and/or to view my comments.  Thanks to all of the the clever bag ladies who sent me their pics to share with us.  Enjoy!

Hey guess what?  WOO HOOOOOO!!!!  I've just found out that I've been accepted to join the Ladies Rock Band programme.  I am going to be a  drummer YAY!!!!.  I've been told I'm going have to sing as well...not so yay! I only can only sing in tune into a hairbrush....

He has better hair (and rhythm) than me!

Thursday (bag) Eye Candy

It's been lovely reading about what bags you are all cooking up, or are going to cook.  There's something very cosy about knowing that there are lots of us out there all making bags at the same time :)  Have you told us what bag/s you are making yet?  You might win this summer bag if you do; you have until July 10th!

As for the Mac vs PC debate; you kind people have well and truly convinced me that Mac is THE way to go.  At the moment I'm borrowing a PC until Oct when the new Mac OS system comes out...oh my, it does look really sexy, I must stop looking at it, and get on with my work!  Thanks for your helpful Mac recommendations :)

Okeydokey back to business!  Here are some luscious bags made by you!!  Thanks for sending them in girls; you sure sure do know your way around a sewing machine!  Sorry it takes so long to post them, I'm the only person who writes for my blog and answers the all the emails...so things will take a bit longer (and I still can't touch type...dur!).  If you want instant bag fame and well deserved bag recognition why not post your pics on this Blog's Baggy Flickr for all to see?

First up: It just happens to be one of my fave colours; this cute bag in teal...

Bronwen
This Basket Style Bag by Bronwen in UK is as fresh as a daisy!  She has used these handles and popped a very cute Fabric Yo-Yo on the front to show off that yummy lining.  Love it, the colours all go beautifully together.

Next we have another Basket Style Bag...

Cheryl_out
Cheryl_inside
This is another lovely summer Basket Style Bag, this time made by Cheryl in UK.  She has used these smart handles, and she has made a wonderful job of inserting a zipper into the lining.  Again, the colours all look fab together and this bag is so jolly!

Next up we have two very cute and neat bags...

Liz_m
Both of these delicious bags where made - and sold :(  by Liz in UK in her shop, aren't they both scrummy?  I love those flowers.

Next up we have some amazing leather work...

Jenna_snake
Jenna_snake_pock

Jenna_s
Jenna_sa
I think you'll agree with me when I say that these leather beauties by Jenna in USA are astounding!  The amount of detail is mind boggling!  She sourced the leather herself and painstakingly HAND STITCHED both of these gorgeous thing of beauty herself...incredible!

Next up we have another Basket Style Bag (it's great seeing these bags all over the place)

Christine
Christine in UK has made a lovely job of this Basket Style Bag by adding a contrasting band at the bottom with matching tab (like in this bag), and using these handles.

Next up we have another take on the Basket Style Bag...

Lynn_basket
I like the way Lynn in UK has taken a pic of her lovely Basket Style Bag amongst the daisies out in the sun (where the hell has the sun gone?).  Isn't it a really cheerful bag?

Next up we have a really delish Messenger Bag...

Claire_h
Is there anything that Claire in UK can't make out of this yummy tweed?  Claire has added a yummy twist to Amy Butler's High St Messenger Bag by making it out of tweed.  I think this bag wouldn't look out of place in a designer shop!  Claire has more of her gorgeous handmade bags for sale in her shop.

Next we have some coll retro-ness...

Zoe_bag02_2
Zoe in UK had made this cool retro style bag using these instructions and these bag handles.  This bag (including matching glasses case and tissue holder) was a pressie for her Mum, and it was very  well received too!

and lastly for all you cat lovers (it seems that a lot us crafty folk have a friendly four legged friend at home - by the way, my Lovely Beans says "Ruff!")...

Patrica
Patricia in UK has made a lovely shoulder bag with a super cute cat applique on the front, how sweet is that?!

June 06, 2007

Wednesday handbag eyecandy.

Here are some droolsome baggy treats made by some very clever seamstresses to inspire you.  Enjoy!

First up; yes, I know it's not a bag, but I want this top anyway...

Redcabohalter
Ali has made a beautiful job of Amy Butler's Cabo Halter.  Doesn't it look gorgeous on her?  Ali has cleverly modified the pattern to make different style straps, and not only did it work; it looks really yummy too.  No doubt Ali will probably make a few more of these; I would!!  In Ali's words 'Amy's patterns are idiot proof'!

Ali has entered her Cabo Halter into the latest Amy Butler Monthly Contest.  I hope you'll have a chance to enter the contest with your Amy Butler goodness, too...

Next up we have two delicious Basket style bags...

Ann_birdie_bag
Anne in UK has teamed this lovely Birdie Fabric with matching Daisy Chain Fabric to make this gorgeous Basket Style Bag.  Yum, how summery is that?!  Two of Anne's loves are sewing bags and her favourite charity Breast Cancer Care.  Ann makes lots of bags to raise money for this wonderful charity, and she does raise a good amount too!

Ann_pink_bag
Anne has made another lovely Basket Style Bag, this time using these handles in strawberry.  The cute heart brooch/pin is free - see here for details.  Anne says that this bag was barely off the sewing machine and it got sold!

Next up we have  a very beautiful purse...

Chinese_silverframe_leanne
Can you believe this is Leanne's first attempt at using a purse frame??? Leanne has used this purse frame, and these instructions (and modified the pattern to make the bottom corners flat and curvy) to make this purse.  It's drop dead yummy, and Leanne tells me that she has an interested buyer for it...

Next up we have a yummy Messenger Bag

Joan_messenger
Joan has made a yummy bag that closely resembles Amy Butler's High St Messenger, but Joan has cleverly made this bag from her own pattern!  She's a lovely job of it, it looks very professional and the fabric is lovely!

Next up we have a bunch of Pleated Pouches...

Katherine_pleated_green

Katherine_pleated
Both of these yummy pleated pouches have been made by Katherine.  It's really exciting for me to see things that have been made using my patterns!  They have been made beautifully and the choice of fabrics and handles work a treat!

Pleated_helly
This lovely Pleated Pouch by Helly was made using silk (like the original one).  I love the way the silk  folds in this bag...YUM

Next up we have a sweet coin purse...

Coin_purse_violet
This cute coin purse made by Violet makes lovely use of textured velvet fabric.   Violet  has used these instructions to make this dinky purse.

And lastly we have a yummy shoulder bag by Chrissie who is in the middle of setting up her own website...

Chrissie_bag1
Chrissie, has made a lovely shaped shoulder bag in some lovely furnishing weight fabric and this frame.
