This is my kinda bag! I like a bag to be roomy and to be smart-casual, this way I can use the same bag on most days and not have to keep swapping the contents out of lots of different bags. This bag is just perfect for that! It's smart (yet relaxed) looking bag and it's so versatile. It looks the part pretty much whatever you're doing and wherever you're going; from smart shopping to smart student or relaxed farmer's market to relaxed sleep over.
This design uses an easy to insert top zip. This particular zip technique: looks professional, is genuinely easy to do and involves no hand sewing (big bonus!). It also has one secure and roomy external zip (but there's nothing stopping you from adding another ont the other side). A great feature about this bag is that it has cinching straps that enable you to make the bag more compact and boxy. This is very handy for when you have packed light for the day (and it means you don't need to swap for a smaller bag).
Things we love about this bag are:
- Nice and roomy - easily fit folders and laptops
- Easy to install zip
- Secure zip pocket on the outside
- Elasticated pocket on the inside
- Smart preppy looks, yet still relaxed
- Cinching straps make the bag more compact
Finished size: 18in (W) x 12in (H) x 4in (D) (48cm x 23cm x 10cm)

The tasty Scandinavian flavour fabric is an off-cut from a local curtain shop, sorry I don't know the fabric's name. What I do remember was that it was rather pricey even as an off-cut! But this bag is actually for me (yes, me, for change) and it doesn't look soo scrummy!
I think the bag looks quite refined myself. :)
Cinched-in sides make the bag a cute box shape, great for when you have to run here and there and you don't want stuff to roll around inside the bag.
The top zip looks really neat, but it is easy to insert. The pocket on the outside is nice and roomy and the secure zip helps to deter naughty-fingers. Inside there is another roomy pocket, this time with an elasticated top. I have included instructions to make all of these features (don't worry).
A neat profile with the cinching straps left undone.
Roomy inner pocket - my Kindle fits inside.
The lovely Skye modeling the bag. She says she is going to whip one up for herself! I'll show you pics of course.
